Beckov Castle stands on a limestone cliff and offers panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. Beckov is home to historical landmarks and striking rock formations; there is also the self-guided Historia na dlani walking and cycling trail, as well as boat trips on the Váh from Trenčín to Piešťany.

Culture and history

Beckov Castle was declared a national cultural monument in 1970. Events and interactive elements complement the castle tour.

The Beckov Museum is housed in a Renaissance manor house belonging to the Ambrovec family, dating from the mid-17th century. The courtyard of the Beckov Museum contains a permanent exhibition of historic carriages and agricultural machinery. The museum therefore presents both the architecture of the house and specific historical vehicles and implements.

Other cultural monuments in Beckov include the Catholic Church of St. Stephen. It is a Gothic cultural and historical monument dating from 1424.

Experiences

The Historia na dlani educational trail is a self-guided walking and cycling route that can be used in summer and winter. With 13 information panels, it presents the history of Beckov and is accessible all year round. Its content and accessibility are therefore not tied to a single season.

The Vodácke centrum Beckov offers another way to explore the area. It provides boat hire, boat transport and instruction in water sports, as well as trips on the Váh from Trenčín to Piešťany. The river connects the starting point of the trips with a route that extends to Piešťany.

Beckov Castle can only be accessed on foot: motor vehicles are not permitted to enter. The walk from the village square to the ticket office takes about five minutes.

Nature and landscape

Beckovské hradné bralo is a rock formation up to 50 m high, with unusual shapes. Its tourist significance is also linked to the castle ruins.

Beckovské Skalice is located in the cadastral territory of the municipality of Beckov, in the Nové Mesto nad Váhom District of the Trenčín Region. The area was designated in 2003 and covers 29.5 ha, without a protective buffer zone.
