Nature

The Felsenpfad forms the northern section of the Gerolsteiner Dolomiten Acht, a circular tour just under eight kilometres long. The Heiligenstein is a 750-metre-long natural rock monument that can be reached via the Keltenpfad or the Dolomiten Acht. Along information boards, the Gerolstein forest nature trail explains trees, forestry, water, ecology, and wildlife, while also following a family-friendly circular route through the Gerolstein forest.

Hiking and Cycling

The Gerolstein region is described as an area with a marked network of hiking trails, including day tours, family-friendly paths, and sections of the Eifelsteig.

Gerolstein is connected to the 123-kilometre-long Kyll Cycle Route, which runs through the town between Losheimergraben and Trier. There is also a connection to the Vulkaneifel Trailpark, which is listed as a permanent, signposted, GPS-recorded mountain biking network. This network is stated to include 750 kilometres of routes and 17,500 metres of elevation gain.

Culture and History

The Church of the Redeemer in Gerolstein is a neo-Romanesque central-plan building with shimmering gold mosaics. It is considered a rare art-historical document of the late German imperial era. The Villa Sarabodis Museum presents Roman-Celtic artefacts from the Kyll Valley and connects the town with the region’s Roman heritage.
