Neroth: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The ruins of Neroth Castle and the Mühlsteinhöhle area are protected cultural heritage sites associated with Neroth; the cave can no longer be entered. Anyone wishing to rent a holiday apartment in Neroth can then continue searching for accommodation.

Culture

The Mouse Trap Museum has its roots in Neroth’s former wire industry. Theodor Kläs introduced wire weaving in the 19th century; the centrepiece of the museum is Josef Pfeil’s workshop.

The preserved castle house is a ruin dating from the 15th century and retains two 12-metre-high gables as well as its hillside wall. The Nerother Wandervögel association was founded in the Neroth Cave on New Year’s Eve 1919/20.

Nature

Nerother Kopf is an extinct volcano that formed around 15,000 years ago. Its wooded area contains lava bombs, volcanic bombs known as Krotzen, and remnants of a millstone quarry.

Hiking

The Eifelsteig long-distance hiking trail runs directly past Neroth. The circular hike “Around Neroth: Forests, Volcano, Ruin” is rated as moderately difficult and covers around 15.6 kilometres; it takes approximately 4 hours and 10 minutes.

The route is consistently marked with a white 1 on a blue background. It follows trail marker 1 through forests and fields in a wide loop around Neroth.

Free parking is available at the church in Neroth and at two hiking car parks along the L27.

Village Life

The local infrastructure includes a salt cave. There are three establishments serving regional cuisine in Neroth.

Local associations maintain traditional customs, including celebrations such as Radschieben, the Easter egg race, putting up the maypole, the village festival, and the Christmas village.
