Kenn: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Anyone wishing to rent a holiday apartment in Kenn can then continue their accommodation search. At a place referred to as Canna – the name means “reed” – a large Roman estate stood in Kenn. The historic town center developed on the remains of this Roman estate.

Culture and History

The local history museum is a fully furnished farmhouse with more than 800 exhibits on rural life in the 19th and 20th centuries. The Herrenbrunnen was built around 1500, probably dates from around 1500, and displays late Gothic stylistic features; it is probably the oldest preserved village fountain in the Trier-Saarburg district.

Landscape and Wine

When approaching from the direction of Trier, Kenn is described as the gateway to the Roman Wine Route. The Roman Wine Route stretches from Kenn to Leiwen and includes 19 holiday resorts. The section between Kenn and Leiwen contains 20 % of the Moselle wine-growing area, equivalent to 2,000 hectares. The Kenner Flur beside the Moselle is arable land interspersed with gravel and sand.

Local vineyards include Kenner Held and Maximiner Hofgarten; both belong to the Probstberg vineyard group. The hillside landscape rises from the vineyards through orchards to the forests. The Roman Wine Route region is associated with wine tastings at nearby wineries. In many Moselle towns, there are also Straußwirtschaften, which serve vintners’ dishes with suitable wines.

Leisure and Trails

Quiet vineyard paths above Kenn are suitable for leisurely walks. Kenn has direct access to the Moselle Cycle Route, and bike tours from Kenn to Trier are presented as a suitable excursion. The Bernhard-Becker leisure facility offers a playground, a soccer and basketball area, and spaces for skateboarding and roller skating. Kenn’s wading pool provides a peaceful opportunity for relaxation and leisure activities.
