Trails and Water

The Schillingen Panorama Trail starts and ends at the Schillingen Leisure Centre and is a premium hiking trail. Near Schillingen, it reaches the 13-hectare Keller Reservoir, which is described as a recreational and holiday area. The trail also passes Keller Lake, the Flonterbach stream and Schillingen Forest Pond; benches and loungers are provided along the route.

Cyclists can reach Schillingen via the Ruwer-Hochwald Cycle Path.

Culture and History

The Romanesque tower of St Albanus dates from around the year 1000. St Albanus stands on the walled grounds of a former castle. In front of St Albanus Church there is a memorial stele for Jewish victims, next to the memorial plaques for those who fell in both world wars.

The bell tower of St Albanus Parish Church dates from the 12th century, and the building is one of the oldest in the region. St Albanus is a classic six-bay successor building.

After the Second World War, a stone chapel was built; the Fatima Chapel was consecrated in 1951. It is a pilgrimage site dedicated to Our Lady of Fatima.

A triangular sandstone from a pagan grave find is visible on the façade of the Geisen House on Trierer Straße.

There is a large car park directly at the Schillingen Leisure Centre. In the direction of Kell am See, the Hochwald Outdoor Swimming Pool and an adjacent campsite near Schillingen are described as recreational facilities.
