Anyone wishing to rent a holiday apartment in Taben-Rodt can then continue searching for accommodation. Taben-Rodt features a local network of seven circular hiking trails as well as the Maunert Rock Trail. The European long-distance hiking trail E3 passes through the town and partly follows these routes.
Hiking
The Maunert Rock Trail is a moderately difficult 1.8-kilometre hike that requires sure-footedness and sturdy footwear. It leads to a summit cross and continues as a scrambling route along the mountain ridge. The summit cross on the 416-metre-high Maunert offers views over Taben-Rodt, Serrig, the Kastel Plateau and the Saar Valley.
Circular Hiking Trail 1 is an easy 4-kilometre loop that starts and ends at the car park by the Youth and Community Centre. Circular Hiking Trail 4 is a moderately difficult 5-kilometre loop starting and ending at St. Michael's Chapel. Circular Hiking Trail 6 descends to the Saar and then returns to St. Michael's Chapel via the Kaiserweg. The Kaiserweg itself is a 10-kilometre hike from St. Michael's Chapel through the Tabener Urwald and Saarsteilhänge nature reserves.
Nature
The Tabener Urwald natural forest reserve associated with Taben-Rodt is known for rare and very rare beetle species. Taben-Rodt lies in the Saar-Hunsrück Nature Park and is surrounded by forest.
Culture and History
St. Michael's Chapel is a Gothic structure dating from the mid-15th century, situated on a high rock above the Saar. From there, the view extends across the Saar Valley; the Saar lies approximately 150 metres below. The historic Hausener Path was used by the residents of Taben to reach Saarhausen and cross the Saar by a small ferry.
Propstey St. Josef was established in 769 as a monastic branch of St. Maximin in Trier. During the annual parish fair, a traditional procession in honour of Quiriacus sets off from Propstey St. Josef.
Cycling
The Saar Cycle Route leads to Taben-Rodt, whose landmark is St. Michael's Chapel. Along the Saar, the cycle route can be followed via Mettlach to Saarbrücken.
