Culture and History

The St. Lawrence Chapel stands on a small rock above the Kapellenbach stream. It was built in 1801 and contains an intricately gilded Baroque altar. This probably came from St. Maximin’s Abbey in Trier. The sacristy of the St. Lawrence Chapel was extended in 1929 using tuff stone from the nearby Pluwigerhammer.

St. Lawrence in Heddert is a Catholic filial church and a simple hall church dating from 1801. Heddert’s local history records a gilded bell donated by Job von Nell, bearing an engraved inscription. The St. Lawrence parish fair is described as one of Heddert’s annual highlights.
