Culture and history

The St. Eligius Chapel is described as one of the oldest chapels in the Diocese of Trier and as one of the few surviving chapels of Gothic design. Together with the Brunnenplatz, it forms the central village centre of Longen and the starting point for an extensive network of hiking trails around the village.

A path uphill through Longen’s vineyards to the historic Höpperbur offers views across the Moselle Valley. The older Höpperbur fountain is located in the Zellerberg vineyard.

During Longen’s summer wine festival, wine flows from the village fountain.
