Fell: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
At the Feller Burgkopf, a steep, rocky slate ridge where the Feller and Weigerbach valleys meet, there is a Roman mountain sanctuary with three temples dating from the 1st century to the end of the 4th century. Archaeological finds include parts of a life-size cult statue of Silvanus.
Nature and Trails
The Grubenwanderweg offers routes of 5 km and 7.5 km. The longer route leads through Fell and the vineyards. The trail runs mainly through the forest, passing ten slate pits with information boards about the history and operation of mining.
The visitor mine can be reached from Trier on Moselbahn line 22 via the Ruwer Valley in about 30 minutes. From the Fell, Neustraße stop, it is about a 30-minute walk to the mine via the historic gate and mining traces, partly along the Grubenwanderweg.
Culture and History
The history of mining includes the Hoffnung pit, where a large part of the historic rail network is still preserved. The Barbara-Hoffnung visitor mine between Fell and Thomm comprises two typical slate pits dating from around the turn of the century. A guided tour underground in the Fell visitor mine lasts about an hour and takes place at a constant temperature of 12 to 13 degrees Celsius.
A Baroque gate and parts of the surrounding wall remain from Maximinerburg Fell. The complex was an agricultural estate belonging to St. Maximin, not a military castle. The ARGO app can display Maximinerburg Fell in its original size and in 360°.
Wine and Landscape
Fell’s landscape follows the valley of the Feller Bach and includes a hill crowned by a castle, enclosed on three sides by two streams. The valley of the Feller Bach also contains a comparatively large, continuous wine-growing area.
The Feller Markt is described as one of the traditional wine festivals on the Moselle. The WeinStein snack bar at the visitor mine serves wine and food.
