Kasel: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

In Kasel, the Ruwer Riesling Experience Trail can be shortened. The 8.2-kilometre circular trail has ten information stations covering viticulture, flora and fauna, history, geology and culture. It also includes viewpoints and rest areas; the paths are mostly paved and suitable for families.

Ramstein, the Mariensäule Trier and Trier’s St. Matthias Benedictine Abbey are located in the surrounding area of Kasel. St. George and the Goldberg are near Kasel. The wider regional surroundings of Kasel also include Teufelskopf, Steinkopf and Diebskopf.

Hiking

Kasel is a stage stop on the Saar-Hunsrück-Steig trail. Vineyard paths are recommended for cooler seasons; in warmer weather, forest paths are suitable, including stages 26 and 27.

Wine and History

Kasel has secular historic buildings associated with wine. These include, among others, the former St. Paulin and St. Irminen monastery estates as well as Nells’ former wine press house.

The wine experience in Kasel focuses on Ruwer Riesling and vineyard sites such as Kaseler Nies’chen and Hitzlay. The local wines are linked to the region’s slate soils; wine tastings and the traditional wine festival in June are part of the wine tradition.

Cycling

The Ruwer-Hochwald Cycle Path runs directly through Kasel. There is an e-bike charging station next to the Tourist Information for cyclists using this route.
