Culture and History
Trierweiler has documented Roman road heritage. The village is located near the ancient road that connected Trier and Cologne; another Roman route branched off towards the Sauer crossing near Welschbillig. Traces of settlement were identified in the valley of the Trierweiler stream. The parish church also contains a commemorative plaque consecrated in 1921.
Roman and Frankish finds were discovered in Sirzenich, within the municipality of Trierweiler. Udelfangen sandstone was used in the construction of the Reichstag in Berlin and in the reconstruction of Trier’s Church of Our Lady.
