Hiking and exploring the Limes

The Rems-Murr Hiking Trail is 50 kilometres long and can be hiked in three stages from Endersbach via Winnenden to Murrhardt. Route navigation can be downloaded to a smartphone. This lets you take the order of the stages and the sections of the trail that interest you into account when planning. The entire hiking trail is well served by local public transport, so a car is not needed to get there.

A seasonal service adds to the options in the northern part of the region: the Limesbus Nord, route 372, runs from Murrhardt via Grab and Großerlach to Mainhardt and back from May until the second-to-last Sunday in October, on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. The bus makes it possible to hike between sites of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Limes or take part in tours led by Limes Cicerones. The Idyllische Straße also offers a circular tour near Großerlach: it runs from Grab via Rottal to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Limes.

For a cycling trip, the route of the Remstal Cycle Path is a useful point of reference: it starts at Endersbach station in Weinstadt and runs via Kernen and Fellbach towards Remseck am Neckar. The cycle path is around 106 kilometres long. Compared with the 50-kilometre Rems-Murr Hiking Trail, this gives you a choice of two routes of different lengths and two ways of getting around. Which one suits you depends on whether you would prefer to explore by bike or on foot.

Wine adds to the range of things to do in Fellbach. The Fellbacher Weingärtner offer wine tastings, cellar tours and a snack at the Neue Kelter. At the annual Weintreff in the Alte Kelter, numerous wine producers and other artisan food and drink makers from the Remstal-Stuttgart region present their products at a stylish tasting event.
