Nature and Trails
The Source du Dard emerges at the foot of limestone cliffs in a reculée typical of the Jura landscape and feeds the Dard stream. The Grotte des Araignées, which is 502 m long, is also located in the area around Sancey.
The historic trail begins at the Maison des Services between Sancey-le-Grand and Sancey-le-Long, passes through Sancey and Belvoir, and ends again at the Espace France Services de Sancey. The route to the Belvédère du Dard passes through Sancey-le-Grand, taking in its chapel, former market halls and fountains.
Culture and History
The Église Saint-Martin dates from the 15th century and was remodelled in the 18th century. Its interior contains several altarpieces, including depictions of the baptism of Christ, the death of Saint Joseph and the encounter between Jesus and John the Baptist.
A fortified residential complex was built near the source of the Dard in the Middle Ages. The Grand-Sancey community developed around it between the 10th and 12th centuries.
The Basilique Sainte-Jeanne-Antide Thouret is a Romanesque Revival basilica near the home of Saint Jeanne-Antide Thouret and remains a pilgrimage centre to this day.

The Fromagerie du Vallon de Sancey offers guided tours. The production stages of Comté and how the cheese dairy operates are explained during the tour.
In addition to Comté, the cheese dairy also produces Cancoillotte with homemade Metton in a Comté vat. This artisanal method is the last of its kind still practised in this form in the region.
