Bonnay: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

The Église Saint-Lazare de Bonnay has been documented since 967. The Château de Bonnay is an 18th-century château built on the site of an older fortified house. Including the farm, enclosing wall, gates, and garden, it was listed as a Monument historique on April 20, 1994.

Culture

The Château de Bonnay includes an English landscape garden dating from the 19th century. The village also features two fountains. The present-day Fontaine on the main square dates from 1841 and was covered in 1912. The Fontaine at the lower edge of the village still has two rectangular cast-iron basins.

Nature

Of the Réserve biologique intégrale de la Dame Blanche, 33.45 hectares are located in Bonnay. This protected area contains calcareous dry grasslands as well as rocks and scree with limestone walls and caves. Peregrine falcons and common ravens breed on the rock faces below the Fort de la Dame Blanche.

Near Bonnay, the Ognon mainly borders the municipal area at the hamlet of Fly. The river forms a natural boundary between the Doubs and Haute-Saône départements. An ecological restoration program for the Ognon is currently in place as part of environmental protection efforts.

Activities

The “L’Ognon fait la force” gravel route passes through Bonnay. It can be completed as a circular route starting from Franche-Comté TGV station or Ecole-Valentin station. The route is easy, covers 40.4 kilometers, and is indicated as taking 3 hours and 30 minutes, with 574 meters of elevation gain.

Hiking trails to the Fort de la Dame Blanche start in Bonnay. The Grand Besançon tourist office also offers a walking tour in Bonnay to discover the village.
