History and Craftsmanship
With the rise of industry from the 18th century onwards, a period of growth began in Dampierre-les-Bois, particularly through the Japy factories. In the Lafeschotte Valley, four Japy factories were built in the 19th century in the municipalities of Fesches-le-Châtel and Dampierre-les-Bois. The Lafeschotte factories produced iron goods, wooden furniture, coffee grinders, pumps, milk churns and enamelled plates. In 1835, the Lafeschotte du Haut factory was described as a “factory for the manufacture of wood screws”.
Events and Ceramics
In addition to local potters, six regional exhibitors took part in the Marché des Potiers held in Dampierre-les-Bois at the end of May. Visitors could discover ceramics in the form of cups, lamps, bowls and jewellery, as well as numerous decorative and practical objects.
The Comité des Fêtes organises the Fête de la Musique in Dampierre-les-Bois.
Activities and Nature
The Circuit 1 cycling route in the Pays de Montbéliard passes through Dampierre-les-Bois. During a forest mushroom outing, participants can bring along their own finds and receive help identifying them. The meeting point is the car park at the cemetery in Dampierre-les-Bois; carpooling is planned.
Insights into Brewing Culture
During a tour of the Microbrasserie Hélie, visitors can view its solar installations. The individual production steps and the ingredients used for beer, such as malt, hops and yeast, are also explained. A tour of the Microbrasserie Hélie is offered as part of the Route des Savoir-faire; registration with the tourist office is required.
