Nans-sous-Sainte-Anne combines historic metalworking with a landscape surrounding the Lison. The Taillanderie operated from 1828 to 1969 and is classified as a historic monument. Guided tours at the Musée de la Taillanderie showcase the hydraulic system, the traditional forge, the bellows made entirely of wood, and a collection of cutting tools. In addition, L’écho de la Taillanderie is an annual gathering where traditional metalworking techniques are shared and taught in practice, and where professional craftspeople meet the public.

Anyone planning a trip to Nans-sous-Sainte-Anne will want to rent a holiday apartment.

Nature and trails

Along the Boucle des sources, QR-code panels provide videos, photos, 3D reconstructions, and interactive content during the walk. Along a shaded path beside the Lison, there is also an arboretum with around 20 recorded coniferous and deciduous tree species. The Les Baumes du Verneau via ferrata offers four routes with varying levels of difficulty and views over the Lison-Reculée.

The source of the Lison is a karst spring. It is fed by numerous sinkholes, swallow holes, and fissures through which water from the Champagnole limestone plateau seeps underground. The source can be reached via a 300-metre path along the Lison.
