Culture and History

The Barrage du Refrain in Fournet-Blancheroche was rebuilt between 1956 and 1957 and raised by 2.89 m. The Ferme, atelier d'horlogerie Dodane at 12 route du Mont du Pré housed a watchmaking workshop: the building was rebuilt in 1880 and contained a workshop where cylinder wheels were made.

The former watch factory locally known as “La Grande Maison” is also part of this history. It housed the customs offices for a time and was later converted into a residential building.

Nature

The Belvédère de la Cendrée owes its name to the colour of the limestone that makes up the massif. Its cliffs provide nesting sites for several bird species.

The “La Combe de Biaufond” hike is a 10.37 km walking route in Fournet-Blancheroche. It leads to the “Gorges de la Ronde”, a wild, lush gorge with high rock walls, stones, mosses, and ferns.

Routes and Excursions

For mountain bikers, the Goumois–Fournet-Blancheroche stage of the “Grande Traversée du Jura à VTT” is 19 km long; the stated duration is 1 hr 16 min. The “Les crêtes – n° 53” route leads into the village of Fournet-Blancheroche and then runs below climbing cliffs near the Belvédère de la Cendrée.

Beyond Fournet-Blancheroche, the access road leads to Biaufond. Fishing is possible there from the bridge and from the French bank via a path that begins approximately 75 m before the bridge.

At the Ferme Auberge Les Louisots in Fournet-Blancheroche, visitors can discover a Tuyé and a garden with numerous species of flowers and plants. Specialities include goat’s cheese, fondue, and homemade pastries.
