Culture

The former Moulin de Dung was initially used as a watchmaking workshop, where rubies were cut for precision watch movements. It subsequently served as a grain mill, oil mill, hemp mill, nail forge, sawmill and power station.

Landscape

Dung is characterised by numerous forests. The old village already extended on both sides of the narrow, incised valley through which the Rupt flows; a walking path was created along the Rupt.

Most of Dung’s agricultural and forestry area lies west of the valley on the limestone Jura plateau with Argovian, Rauracian and Sequanian rocks; at Bois du Sainans it reaches an elevation of 409.423 m.

Activities

AC ÉQUITATION, located in Dung near Montbéliard, offers riding lessons and riding courses; it also offers trail rides for children and adults of all levels.

The project for the Dung–Présentevillers cycle connection is intended to create a continuous, one-kilometre-long connection to the existing cycle path and facilitate access to EuroVelo 6.

Dung is part of the 45 km-long Circuit 11 cycle route.

The Les étangs des Princes circular route is an easy, 9.5 km, three-hour PR loop. The Les étangs des Princes hiking trail passes through Dung.
