Meunet-Planches: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

In the center of Meunet-Planches, the present-day Eglise Saint-Jean-l'évangéliste stands on a small square and is dedicated to Saint Jean. The church has a single-nave body and a choir with a flat end. It has a plaster vault that replaced an earlier roof structure; three preserved tie beams provide evidence of this earlier construction. A side chapel on its southern side was added between 1857 and 1860.

Culture and History

The archaeological site of Meunet-Planches is a geometric enclosure measuring approximately one hectare, built against a small rocky cliff overlooking the Théols River. Prospecting and excavation revealed iron parts in their original positions, interlocking horizontal beams, and carefully constructed limestone masonry.

Nature

The Marais de la Gravolle is located in the municipalities of Brives and Meunet-Planches and consists of wet meadows with scattered groups of trees and hedgerows. It has rich biodiversity and is designated as a type I ZNIEFF. Two particularly worthy wetland habitats have been identified in the Marais de la Gravolle: eutrophic, neutral to alkaline flowing waters with submerged vegetation, as well as hydrophilic tall-herb communities of the lowland and montane to alpine zones.

Things to Do

The Boucle de la Théols cycling loop connects Vouillon, Brives, Meunet-Planches, and Bommiers. At Meunet-Planches, the Théols is designated as a second-category fishing waterway. At the Auberge des Rabouilleux in Meunet-Planches, fishing permits are sold for one year, one week, and one day.

Parc de Lesseps can be explored on foot, by bicycle, or by boat in summer. It offers guest rooms and an independent holiday home in a 20-hectare English landscape park.
