Montierchaume: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

In 1100, Léodegaire, also known as Léger, the archbishop of Bourges, handed over the Church of Saint-Maurice in Montierchaume to the Notre-Dame de Déols Abbey.

Culture and history

The single-nave choir and the apse, which is enclosed on three sides, of the Church of Saint-Maurice date from the 12th century. The sacristy dates from the 13th century and is decorated with a 15th-century wooden statue that is classified as a historic monument.

The choir contains polychrome frescoes commemorating the parish’s monastic origins. There are also richly decorated capitals, which were made as copies of the capitals of the Benedictine Abbey of Notre-Dame de Déols. The church is open to anyone interested in the religious heritage of Berry.

Cycling and walks

In Montierchaume, road cycling tours with different speeds and distances for beginners and experienced cyclists start from Place Raymond Couturier at 2 p.m. on Mondays and Thursdays. Mountain biking is also part of the cycling activities available in Montierchaume.

As part of the USM Marche activity, UFOLEP organizes a walk in Montierchaume every Sunday.

Landscape

The route Tour de Montierchaume par le Nord et Crevant passes the apple trees of La Fleuranderie and runs along the Bois de la Ronde.

A picnic table is available in the area of the plaine de jeux in Montierchaume.
