Sainte-Sévère-Sur-Indre: Vacation Apartments and Holiday Homes

In Sainte-Sévère-sur-Indre, the Maison de Jour de Fête is dedicated to Jacques Tati’s film “Jour de Fête.” It can be visited as a Scénovision performance featuring projections as well as reconstructed and animated sets. The Maison de Jour de Fête is accessible to visitors with reduced mobility.

History

The motte of the Château médiéval is the most important surviving remnant of a castle first mentioned in a document from the mid-11th century; a castle stood there at the beginning of the 12th century. The feudal motte of the Château médiéval, the tower standing on it, the adjoining ruins, and the English garden laid out in the 19th century are listed as historic monuments. An English park with a boxwood maze was created around 1850 on the slope of the Château médiéval leading down to the Indre.

The Porte de ville, dite Porte du Marché is a 15th-century town gate on the Place du Marché. It connected the old town with the Château and the new town and has two pointed-arch openings; it is listed as a historic monument.

Food and Drink

The Marché sous la halle in Sainte-Sévère-sur-Indre takes place every Wednesday morning and offers cheese, vegetables, and meat.

Getting Around

The Circuit pédestre n° 25 hiking trail, “de moulins en châteaux,” starts at the Place du Champ de Foire and passes through a hilly landscape with castles and mills.
