Le Blanc: Holiday Apartments and Houses

The Château Naillac has towered over the Creuse for more than 800 years. The fortress dates back to the 12th century; its two towers originate from this period, although they were rebuilt in the 15th, 18th and 19th centuries. Château Naillac also preserves traces of its successive uses as the castle of the Lords of Le Blanc in Berry, as a prison in the 18th century and later as a municipal school.

Culture

The Écomusée de la Brenne is housed in Château Naillac. It presents the history of the Brenne through the lives of fish farmers, salt smugglers, blacksmiths and farmers. Its cultural programme runs year-round and includes heritage tours, activities for young visitors and other events.

The Moulin de la Filature illustrates the industrial history of Le Blanc and has served local businesses since the Industrial Revolution. Another historical trace is provided by the “d'une rive à l'autre” heritage trail: it is equipped with information panels and begins on the banks of the Creuse on the right bank of the river.

Water

The Base de plein air in Le Blanc uses outdoor activities to introduce visitors to the valleys of the Creuse and Anglin and to the nearby Brenne. Canoë Evasion rents canoes and kayaks for half or full days to groups and individuals. Canoë Evasion also offers river trips accompanied by a state-certified canoe-kayak instructor for groups of eight or more, either for half a day or a full day.

The Canoë-Kayak Club Le Blanc accepts people aged twelve and over, provided they can swim, so that this sport can be practised safely.
