Orsennes: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
The Circuit des chemins gallo-romains offers a preserved bocage landscape in Orsennes, with ponds, hedges and vineyard huts. This creates a multifaceted view of the town, combining the experience of the landscape with traces of history.
Culture and History
One of the significant historical monuments is the Eglise du prieuré Saint-Martin. It has been listed as a historic monument since 21 October 1925; its main construction phases date from the 12th and 15th centuries. Another striking testament to the past is the Dolmen du Chardy, a historic monument measuring 3.5 metres in length.
Historical Traces and Paths
The Château du Breuil Yvain dates back to 1236 in its origins. Parts of the double moat have been preserved, and it is possible to take a walk along the former moats. The Circuit pédestre du château du Breuil-Yvain is a difficult 15.4-kilometre hike lasting 3 hours and 45 minutes.
Hiking Among Ponds
The Circuit pédestre des étangs is a 7.6-kilometre hiking trail around Orsennes. It is classified as very easy and takes 1 hour and 55 minutes. Typical of the Marche Berrichonne, this hike leads from pond to pond, passing oak and chestnut trees, fountains and washhouses.
At the Etang communal du Rigollet
The approximately one-hectare Etang communal du Rigollet is located near the centre of Orsennes. Carp and coarse-fish angling are available there; fishing is open from 1 April to 31 October. The site also includes a fitness trail and picnic tables.
