Culture

The Maison de George Sand can be visited as part of a guided tour lasting approximately one hour; free visitor information is available in seven languages. The reception building houses a permanent exhibition featuring the puppets, stage sets and props of Maurice Sand. For 2025, interactive digital devices with visual and audio elements were used to explore the frescoes of the Eglise Saint-Martin de Vic.

The Eglise Saint-Martin de Vic features restored 12th-century Romanesque frescoes depicting important scenes from the childhood of Christ. The Eglise Sainte Anne was built in the 12th and 13th centuries and features murals on the apse wall and at the entrance to the choir.

Nature

The garden and park of the Maison de George Sand are freely accessible at no cost. The circular trail “Circuit pédestre n° 3 – Nohant, village champêtre” is an easy loop of approximately one hour around the Domaine de George Sand in Nohant-Vic.

Surroundings

Opposite the Domaine de George Sand, the Bureau d'Information Touristique provides information about the region and the surrounding area. The historic site Abbaye Notre-Dame de Varennes and the Basilique Saint-Étienne de Neuvy-Saint-Sépulchre, a church, are located near Nohant-Vic. Further afield in the region around Nohant-Vic are the historic sites Abbaye Bois-d'Habert and Abbaye des Pierres.

The Maison de George Sand can be reached via the D 943 from Châteauroux or Montluçon. Another connection is via Châteauroux railway station with a bus connection.
