Culture and History

The Château de l’Isle-Savary was built in the 16th century on an artificial island in the Indre. Its façade is visible from the paths along the Indre and from Clion-sur-Indre’s main bridge.

The Sainte-Colombe Church in Clion-sur-Indre dates from the 11th and 12th centuries and has a Gothic chapel named “De Varye”. The church also houses a stone Pietà from the 15th century. A stained-glass window depicts Saint Columba of Sens standing upright, dressed in antique clothing and beneath an architectural canopy. She is accompanied by a bear and carries a dove and the martyr’s palm as attributes.

Nature and Trails

The “Mon Herbier Châtillonnais” route is an easy 3.5-kilometre walk. As a walking trail in Clion-sur-Indre, it explores the plant life of hedgerows and country lanes. The route passes through fields and along paths that are mostly lined with centuries-old hedgerows.

A detour from the route to the Ruisseau de Murs stream provides an opportunity to discover plants from wetland or aquatic habitats.

Activities

The Circuit de l’Indre offers karting driving courses for children aged 6 to 14. There are also recreational karting sessions open to everyone.

Food and Drink

Since 2011, Marguer’Ice has been making farm ice cream and sorbets on the farm using raw milk produced locally. The recipes use local and seasonal ingredients and contain no artificial colourings or flavourings. Marguer’Ice also offers free tastings and an activities workshop.
