Nature

The Forêt de Chœurs-Bommiers is designated as a type 2 continental ZNIEFF and includes the municipality of Pruniers. The forest is known for its rich wildlife; it is home to the black stork, which is considered to breed in the massif, and the wildcat. The botanical nature trail in the Forêt domaniale de Chœurs-Bommiers is 2.23 km long. The Grande Thonaise crosses the area around Pruniers, which also offers numerous country paths for exploring nature.

Culture

Individual and group tours of the Église Saint-Martin are available on request. The church was rebuilt from 1869 onwards in the Romanesque-Gothic style and features a stone bell-tower porch, a nave with ribbed vaulting, side chapels forming a transept, and a semicircular apse. Its historic furnishings include a fragment of a 13th-century stained-glass window, a bell dating from around 1472, a painting of Saint Martin donated in 1808 and signed by Parmentier, as well as two Burgundian-style mourning figures from 1450.

The Chapelle Notre-Dame de Choeurs is of Romanesque origin; a pilgrimage in honour of the Virgin Mary takes place there on the Feast of the Assumption.

Events

The nature event “Oiseaux forestiers” is held in Pruniers. It focuses on the remarkable diversity of migratory and resident birds in the state forests of the département, as well as the interplay between biodiversity and forest management.

Geographical location

The RD925 runs through Pruniers and provides fast connections to the A20 motorway (Châteauroux) and the A71 motorway (Saint-Amand-Montrond).

Culinary delights

Ferme Le Petit Bellevue produces and sells farm-produced goat’s cheese.
