Culture and History

The Church of Saint-Martin contains the choir’s centrally located axial window, featuring stained glass created in 1867 by Charles Lévêque, a stained-glass artist from Beauvais. The west portal of the church dates back to the end of the 15th century. Giroux also has a stained-glass window restored in 2013.

The priory of Giroux is said to have been founded in 1214 by the Benedictine Abbey of Notre-Dame d’Issoudun. The former Saint Vincent festival included a procession to the church. Historically, the Comité Saint Vincent de Giroux–Luçay-le-Libre held a festival every year in January.

Landscape and Viticulture History

The Clos des vignes de Giroux covers approximately 80 hectares. It is the only area of Giroux that was not consolidated in 1970 because many grapevines were still growing there. The Cabanes de Vignes in Giroux bear witness to an activity that has now almost disappeared; four cultivated vineyards remain.

Etang des Fresnes is a place for walks; there is also a picnic area.
