Culture and history

The Prieuré Saint-Michel is located on Rue du Prieuré in Le Magny. The Eglise Saint-Michel stands on a hill and historically belonged to the Abbey of Déols. It preserves Romanesque architectural elements: its choir and the remains of the crossing date from the 11th century and feature figurative capitals with human representations. Individual guided tours and group tours of the Eglise Saint-Michel are available on request.

Nature and gardens

The Beauregard gardens belong to the “Espaces Naturels Sensibles” network of the Indre département. The Beauregard gardens feature several old grape varieties and fruit varieties that have now been forgotten. The site has a 2.3 km path; the stated duration is approximately one hour. The Couarde valley, located below the Beauregard gardens, can be explored via a picturesque path through meadows lined with hedges and beneath a wooded canopy.

Circular routes

The Circuit n°26 “Bocage et traditions” circular route starts at the car park by the Salle des fêtes de Le Magny. It is a 23.3 km hiking trail with a stated duration of approximately 5 hours and 30 minutes and passes through Le Magny, Chassignolles and La Châtre. Between the ponds of Côtes à Buraud and Moulin Borgnon, it runs through an exceptional biodiversity corridor connected with the bocage, wetlands, wooded habitats and waterways such as the Indre.

Viticulture

The Circuit pédestre n°10 “de la Couarde aux vignes” circular hiking route explores the local history of viticulture and takes visitors to remarkably restored vineyard huts. It is a 6.5 km loop starting at Place Edmond Ravaud near the village hall of Le Magny.
