Niherne: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

The Romanesque church of Saint-Sulpice in Niherne dates from the 12th century. Its main construction phase dates from the Middle Ages; it is listed as a historic monument, with the listing taking place on 26 January 1927.

Nature

Niherne is part of the ZNIEFF area “Moyenne Vallée de l’Indre”. This area includes tributaries, former river meanders and associated wetlands. Dragonflies and pike spawning grounds can be found there; otters and beavers are in the process of recolonising the area.

Near Niherne, the “La Demoiselle” spring lies on the boundary between the municipalities of Saint-Maur and Niherne. In the vicinity of Niherne, the “La Demoiselle” spring at La Saura is described as a place steeped in history that has become part of local legend.

Water and leisure

Fishing is possible at Étang Bourbon in Niherne. Étang Renard in the vicinity of Niherne is mentioned as a fishing spot for anglers.

The Piscine de Niherne outdoor swimming pool is a seasonal facility for family leisure and welcomes visitors from 1 June to 31 August. From June to August, the Piscine de Niherne offers swimming lessons and water familiarisation activities.
