Vicq-sur-Nahon can be explored along signposted routes covering very different distances: three short circular hiking trails in the municipality are 6, 15 and 28 kilometres long. The 90-kilometre Benjamin Rabier discovery trail, which is officially recognised as a GR® de Pays, also passes through Vicq-sur-Nahon.

On the way

The municipality offers two trails with reduced accessibility barriers, measuring 3.5 and 6.3 kilometres, which start at the stadium; a map is available at the town hall. There is also a signposted cycling route through the town: the 52-kilometre circular cycle route “Le Goût du Valençay” runs through Vicq-sur-Nahon.

The “Le Goût du Valençay” circular cycle route brings the region’s cheese heritage and gastronomic diversity to life through the producers based along the route, and highlights the two AOC/AOP wines as well as Valençay cheese.

Culture and History

The Château de la Moustière was built around 1745 by Joseph-Abel Couture l’Ainé, the inspector of royal buildings, on behalf of Edmond Le Prestre de Neubourg. The Château de La Moustière is partly registered as a Monument historique and partly classified as a Monument historique; the registration took place on 19 December 2022 and the classification on 17 December 2024.

The Église Saint-Laurent dates largely from the 16th century and stands on the site of a Romanesque predecessor. Its stained-glass windows date from different periods and are signed by Thévenot, Laurent-Gsell and Mauméjean.

The privately owned Château de La Moustière offers an exterior visit with explanations, as well as a visit to a remarkable 18th-century icehouse complex and a 17th-century dovecote.
