Tournon-Saint-Martin: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Tournon-Saint-Martin combines exciting water experiences with trails through river landscapes and historic sites. The freely accessible pump track is particularly immediate. The Stade d'eau vive is a controllable whitewater course that can be equipped with slalom gates.

Active experiences

At the Stade d'eau vive, activities include mini rafting for four to six people, kayaking with rigid or inflatable kayaks, hydrospeed with fins, and stand-up paddleboarding on calm and moving water. Supervised beginner and advanced courses in kayaking, rafting, airboating, and whitewater swimming are available under the guidance of a state-certified instructor.

Landscape and trails

The Voie Verte is a more than 70-kilometre-long route reserved for cyclists and pedestrians; one section runs between Tournon-Saint-Martin and Le Blanc. This section follows the Creuse below limestone cliffs and then climbs to a limestone plateau with low, orchid-rich grasslands. Along the way, the Voie Verte follows the shaded route of a former railway line and leads past agricultural land and orchards on the way to Le Blanc.

Another connection for cyclists is the 36-kilometre cycling route “Itinéraire vélo n° 6 – La vallée du Suin”, which can begin at the water sports stadium in Tournon-Saint-Martin. “La vallée du Suin” connects the ponds of the Brenne, running in particular through the Suin and Creuse valleys. Its route lies amid rural landscapes, agricultural land, and villages with well-preserved traditional buildings.

Culture

The Château de Soudun dominates the Creuse and was founded on the remains of an ancient Gallic fortress. Maison-Neuve was built in the 15th century. According to tradition, Maison-Neuve housed Joan of Arc for one night in 1429.

Hiking

In Tournon-Saint-Martin, hikers can take the Chemin de l’Évêque towards Tours. The hiking trail “Balade à pied n° 65 – Entre Creuse et Suin” starts and ends in Tournon-Saint-Martin. It initially follows the Creuse and then leads into the Suin Valley, which is characterised by remarkable flora and wildlife.
