Oulches: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

In Oulches, the 650-metre-long discovery trail leads to the lime kilns and into the industrial history of the former quarries of Saint-Nazaire.

Nature and trails

At the lime kilns site, the limestone grasslands and the protected population of greater horseshoe bats are part of a Natura 2000 site.

On the “Entre Brion et Creuse” trail, open and enclosed landscapes alternate. The hilly route passes through meadows, undergrowth and hedgerows, and along sections of the river.

Culture and history

The Notre-Dame de Longefont priory was founded in 1110 by d'Arbrissel, the founder of the Fontevraud Order. It was a women’s priory and was subordinate to the Fontevraud Order. The chapel of Longefont Priory was rebuilt between 2006 and 2015.

The surviving elevations and floors of the former Longefont Priory were listed as historic monuments by decree of 22 February 2007.

The restored Romanesque church of Notre-Dame de Longefont Priory has 48 historiated Romanesque capitals. The visit leads through the garden areas and the park to the Font-Bleue, a spring that has existed since time immemorial. The church and park of Notre-Dame de Longefont Priory can be visited subject to the stated visiting conditions. Visits are possible every day except Saturdays by prior appointment; appointments should be made 24 hours in advance.
