Culture and History

The Église St Martin is documented as early as 1115 and dates from the 13th century. It was under the patronage of the Abbey of Déols. The church also has two square 16th-century chapels with vaulted ceilings and Flamboyant-style rib vaults; the chapels were completely restored in 2019.

La Motte de Presles is a feudal motte and is one of the best-preserved sites in the Indre département. From Mers-sur-Indre, it is freely accessible via the Route de Saint-Août, provided the grazing animals in the surrounding area are not disturbed.
