Nature and Trails

Pouligny-Notre-Dame lies on the slope of the Colline du Fragne, which, at 456 metres, is described as the highest point in the Indre département. The slopes of the Colline du Fragne, also known as Terrier Randoin, are covered with chestnut trees, oaks, beeches and conifers.

Marked routes and trails in Pouligny-Notre-Dame allow walkers to explore the commune’s natural landscapes. Hiking trail no. 81, the “Sentier Ô Fil de l’Eau”, is 10.5 km long and classified as very easy.

Activities and Recreation

The Base de Loisirs de Ligny covers 3.5 hectares within a 9-hectare leisure area. The 185-km GR® de Pays Sentier des Maîtres Sonneurs runs from Nohant in the Indre département via Châteaumeillant to Huriel in the Allier département and crosses the commune of Pouligny-Notre-Dame at the Plan d’eau de Ligny.

At the Plan d’eau de Ligny, a cable water-ski lift allows visitors to glide across the water on a board while attached to a cable. The leisure facility also offers a disc golf course.

Domaine des Dryades offers a 9-hole recreational golf course with a practice area, putting green and introductory sessions.

Wellness

The spa at Domaine des Dryades covers 1,200 m². Outside guests can use the hammam, sauna and full range of treatments at the spa; the indoor and outdoor pools are reserved for hotel guests.

Culture and History

The Manoir de Pouligny Notre Dame, also known as Le Manoir, was built in the 11th century and extensively renovated and remodelled in the 12th and 17th centuries.

The choir of the Église Notre-Dame, the oldest part of the building, dates back to the end of the 12th century. The nave of the Église Notre-Dame was rebuilt at the beginning of the 15th century; the bell-tower porch was added by Dauvergne around 1900.
