Tendu: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

A remarkable Romanesque building from the 12th century is the Église Saint-Étienne de Tendu. Every summer, the Médiévale de Tendu also takes place, a medieval festival organized by associations from the municipality of Tendu in cooperation with the town hall.

History

The 15th-century Château de Mazières stands on the left bank of the Bouzanne beside a meadow that slopes down towards the river. It has an imposing square keep with six storeys. The keep is flanked at all four upper corners by turrets projecting on corbels.

Prunget was originally, together with Chabenet, one of the most powerful feudal castles guarding the crossing of the Bouzanne. The surviving Donjon de Prunget dates from the 14th century and rises seven storeys above the river. Its walls are reinforced by buttresses; the donjon also has machicolations and a small watchtower at each corner of its upper section.

Landscape

Tendu is considered particularly representative of the scenic and historical richness of the classified Vallée de la Bouzanne site, which extends from Pont-Chrétien-Chabenet to Velles.

Hiking and Cycling

“Au fil de la Bouzanne” is a hiking trail in Tendu classified as difficult; the route takes approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes. The yellow-marked PR trail “Au fil de la Bouzanne” is temporarily impassable at Tendu’s bridge, which is currently being repaired. An official diversion has therefore been established and the route markings adjusted.

The 41-kilometre cycle route no. 7, “Le Val de Bouzanne”, passes through Tendu on one stage.
