Concremiers: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Culture and History
Concremiers is home to the parish church of Saint-Martin, which was built in the second half of the 15th century. It comprises five private chapels built in the 15th and 16th centuries by the noble Poix and Naillac families for the parish.
The Château de Forges is a fortified manor house dating from the 15th century, built by Jean de Poix, the butler of Charles VII. It has been classified as a historic monument since 26 October 1964. In Concremiers, the Château de Forges can be viewed from the outside.
The Moulin banal de Courtioux was rebuilt on the banks of the Anglin in 1868. It retains its 19th-century mechanism as well as a Poncelet wheel with curved blades.
The former Maison forte de Courtioux once served to monitor the ford and collect tolls. The surviving defensive elements from the late 16th century include corbels for projecting watchtowers and a loophole for muskets. Another former house belonging to the parish priory has a machicolation above its door as well as a loophole for firearms.
