Chitray: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

In Chitray, the “Walking Route No. 25 – Along the Greenway” is signposted. It leads to Château Foltertre and passes through the village of Le Tertre. Along the way, it uses a section of a former railway line that has now been developed into the Voie Verte, follows the Creuse River, which is visible through the vegetation in places, and then climbs the hillside into the bocage landscape. The hike is 8.0 km long and takes two hours.

Cycling

From Chitray, the Voie Verte forms part of a route more than 70 km long reserved for cyclists and pedestrians. The “Cycling Route No. 11 – Along the Creuse” can be started at the Voie Verte in Chitray; it is 30 km long. The Voie Verte connects Chitray with Ciron via Scoury. The section between Chitray and Rivarennes is shaded.

Culture and History

The Château de Foltertre in Chitray was owned by the Rouxel family until 1925. Château Foltertre is privately owned and cannot be visited.
