Buzançais: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Buzançais bears witness to its history through exceptionally tangible architectural heritage: the Chapelle Saint-Lazare is the oldest monument in the town and also the only surviving part of a leper colony mentioned by Pope Alexander III in a papal bull dating from 1175.

Culture and History

The Sainte-Croix de Buzançais priory was founded between 1419 and 1421, probably as an offshoot of the Sainte-Croix priory in Caen. During the French Revolution, it became national property; in 1791, the municipality bought the priory so that it could become Buzançais's first town hall.

The Pavillon des Ducs is the last surviving building of the château built in the 1530s by Philippe Chabot de Brion, Count of Buzançais and Admiral of France. Its doors and windows are decorated with Renaissance motifs.

Nature and Activities

The Buzançais arboretum is a place for walks. Over the course of the seasons, visitors can admire the different foliage and blossoms there. The municipal swimming pool is supervised to ensure visitors' safety.

At Étang Baron, visitors can enjoy daytime fishing at a municipal pond in green surroundings.

Cycling

The Véloroute 49 “La Cyclo Bohème entre Touraine, Berry, Creuse” offers a cycling connection from Buzançais to Argy and its tourist train.

Regional Products

Buzançais's weekly market takes place every Friday on Place du Général de Gaulle. It showcases regional flavours, colours and local expertise. Domaine des Maisons Bodiers sells Limousin beef directly from the farm.
