Vatan: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Vatan’s specific cultural attractions include the Musée du Cirque. Since 1993, it has been France’s first circus museum and covers an area of more than 600 m².

Culture and History

The Church of Saint Laurian is one of the oldest historical monuments in Berry. Its carved entrance door dates from the late 15th century. The oldest part of the church is the three-sided apse built under Francis I. A stained-glass window next to the choir commemorates the life of Saint Laurian.

The Musée des Ponts et Chaussées is housed in a model facility built by Ferdinand de Lesseps. Tools, equipment, instruments and vehicles from the field of roads and bridges are on display.

The Halle au blé was remodelled in 1749 and preserves three visible roof trusses out of the original five. It can be visited independently on a permanent basis; guided tours are available on request.

Tours and Trails

The Champs d’Amour Tourist Office has created a historical walking tour to discover Vatan’s heritage. The heritage tour through Vatan takes around one hour and is easy to walk.

The Boucles des Champs d’Amour cycling route also passes through Vatan.

On Site

The Champs d’Amour Tourist Office in Vatan has an area offering selected regional products, souvenirs and books. It also issues fishing permits valid for one day, one week or an entire year.

A market is held in Vatan on Wednesday mornings at the Place de la République.
