The Terres et Étangs de Brenne, Massé-Foucault Regional Nature Reserve covers 320 hectares.

Nature and trails

The Étang Massé is home to one of the nature reserve’s last reed beds. The landscape around Rosnay also includes sandstone hills known as “buttons”.

The circular trail “Les étangs au fil des bouchures” begins at the Place de Verdun in Rosnay, opposite the Le Cendrille restaurant. It runs along high and low hedgerows, offering views of ponds. The “Rencontre avec les paysages de Brenne” circular trail passes through characteristic landscapes with ponds, natural meadows, heathland and wet forests. At the Étang du Blizon and the ponds in the Foucault-Massé area, it offers opportunities to observe numerous waterbirds.

History and culture

The Château du Bouchet is a fortress dating from the 13th, 15th and 17th centuries. At the Château du Bouchet, visitors can take tours through numerous furnished rooms, either independently or with a guide. Its terrace offers views of the Étang de la Mer Rouge and across a radius of 60 km.

The Église Saint-André was completely rebuilt in the second half of the 15th century. It preserves wall paintings covering the walls of the nave and choir.

Visiting and orientation

The Maison du Parc is the starting point for a hiking trail. It has a room for video screenings and a tasting area for regional products. It also serves as a tourist information point.
