Vokov: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Vokov is considered an elongated valley village dating from the period of colonization in the 13th and 14th centuries. Its history is also connected with the old Želivská stezka trade route: Vokov and its entire surrounding area lie along this route, which has connected the Bohemian Basin with the Austrian Danube region since the early Middle Ages.
History and Village Character
The village square is home to the Chapel of Vokov, a small vernacular sacred building with a square floor plan, a shingle-covered tent roof, and a small bell tower. It is dated to 1800, registered under number 29106/3-3157, and has been protected as a historical monument since 1958.
A medieval connection has also been handed down: Oldřich Tluksa from Vokov is mentioned for the years 1376 to 1386. A manor may have stood there, but its location has never been identified.
Watercourse and Landscape
The Bělá crosses the eastern part of Vokov's municipal territory from south to north. A flood zone, including an active zone, has been designated for this section; the Bělá then flows into the Želivka.
