Nová Cerekev: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Nová Cerekev Synagogue was built in 1855 in the Neo-Romanesque style with Oriental elements. After many years of restoration work, it was reopened to the public in 2014.

Culture and History

The Jewish cemetery in Nová Cerekev contains a gravestone dating from 1692. The new part of the cemetery was expanded in 1866 with a Neo-Gothic ceremonial hall; it is also the site of the burial place of the modern painter Alfred Justitz.

The present-day Church of Saint Thomas Becket in Nová Cerekev was built in the Baroque style between 1750 and 1760. In front of the church, the square is adorned by characteristic 17th-century stone sloupková boží muka. In the northern part of the square, opposite House No. 43, there is a simple octagonal stone fountain that forms a distinctive design element of the municipality.

The townscape also preserves historical structures: the houses on the northern side of Rubešova Street in Nová Cerekev have largely retained their original form and, together with the synagogue, form a distinctive urban ensemble.
