Nature

The Bořetický stream flows along the southeastern edge of Bořetice. It is a right-bank tributary of the Trnava.

Culture

The chapel in Bořetice was built in the Neo-Gothic style in the second half of the 19th century. Its bell is considerably older than the chapel building. Local memorials also include the Bořetice memorial to the victims of the First World War, erected in 1928. Photographs of six fallen men are attached to the memorial.

The Červená Řečice Chateau is located 5 km east of Bořetice in the immediate area. The national cultural monument complex offers guided tours.

History

The first written record of Bořetice dates from 1300 and reads “villa Boreticz ad Horzepnik”. In its early history, Bořetice belonged to the archbishop’s domain of Červená Řečice.

The historian Václav Žáček was born in Bořetice in 1905. The parents of Bishop Franz Žak came from Bořetice.
