Landscape
Černovice lies at the confluence of two branches of the Černovický potok and on the southern slope of the 739-metre-high Svidník mountain. In Černovice, the Černovický potok is home to several ponds and former mills.
The Vrchy and Tlučin mountains lie in the immediate vicinity of Černovice. The Podstupský vrch and Hora mountains are also located in the surroundings of Černovice.
Views and Trails
Černovické vyhlídky comprises six viewpoints; each has a bench and distinctive signage made from a forked tree trunk. The viewpoints are connected by a 22-kilometre route that follows the contour lines.
The viewpoint guide recommends starting the route at the church bell tower, continuing along Nádražní Street to Černovice railway station on the Jindřichův Hradec–Obrataň narrow-gauge railway. The Černovice–Svidník–Svatá Anna cycle route also passes through Černovice; from the market square, the red-marked trail leads to the accessible Jewish cemetery.
Culture and History
The deanery Church of the Elevation of the Holy Cross is a monumental single-nave building with a cruciform floor plan, a tower above the façade, and side chapels. It stands on the site of the former Chapel of Saint Catherine.
The wider regional surroundings of Černovice include Želivský Kláštor Monastery, the Church of Svatý Jan, and the Church of Svatá Anna.
