Ondřejov is a linear village in a valley with a radial layout and a spacious village green. The village was first mentioned in writing in 1406.

Water and Landscape

The Želivka (Hejlovka) watercourse runs through the administrative area of Ondřejov. Throughout the cadastral area of Ondřejov u Pelhřimova, there are several ponds and other bodies of water with a total area of approximately 3.47 hectares. Hejlovský Pond is also located in the cadastral area of Ondřejov u Pelhřimova and is legally classified as a significant landscape feature.

Culture and History

The built-up area of Ondřejov is registered as a Category ÚAN II archaeological site dating from the Middle Ages to the modern period.

The chapel on the village green in Ondřejov has a semicircular apse, a volute gable with a square bell tower and trefoil-shaped windows. It has been reconstructed and is registered under number 46057/3-3181.

The Church of St. Anne is located in the vicinity of Ondřejov. In the wider regional area are Želivský Kláštor Monastery, the ruins of Janštejn and Roštejn Castle [Doupě].

Hills and Trails

Mount Orlov is located near Ondřejov. The surrounding area also includes Putimovský vrch, Troják and Bělský Kopec.

A hiking route from Zajíčkov to Pelhřimov follows a marked trail and passes the Chapel of St. Anne with a small bell tower and a cross in Ondřejov.

The section of road I/34 between Božejov, Ondřejov and Pelhřimov was opened to traffic. The 5.5-kilometre section was intended to make travel through the western part of the Vysočina region towards Jindřichův Hradec safer and smoother.
