České Žleby is located along the historic Golden Trail (Zlatá stezka). The village lies at an elevation of 913 to 950 metres above sea level. The settlement is situated at the foot of Žlebský vrch, which reaches a height of 1,080 metres.

Nature and landscape

The “Okolím Českých Žlebů” trail offers views of Czech and German mountains, including Luzný. The mountain Stožec is located in the immediate vicinity of České Žleby. The surrounding area also includes the mountains Křemenná, Eibenberg and Větrný.

The “Okolím Českých Žlebů” hiking trail starts at the central car park and follows a yellow-marked route towards Mlaka and Kamenná Hlava. The first stage of the Zlatá stezka (Blanice) cycle route passes through České Žleby. One of the attractions along this cycle route in České Žleby is a stone fountain. The Vltava Route reaches České Žleby via cycle path 1025 and continues from České Žleby along cycle path 33 to Stožec.
