Svatá Maří: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Svatá Maří lies on the southern slope below the 906-metre-high Mařský vrch. The landmark of the village is the Church of Saint Mary Magdalene, which dates back to 1352. Svatá Maří also offers views of Boubín, one of the highest peaks in the Bohemian Forest, located 8 kilometres away as the crow flies.

Culture

A Gothic baptismal font with four engraved coats of arms has been preserved in Svatá Maří: the coat of arms of the Budkovští z Budkova, the two keys of the Nebřehovští, and a rose and a carp as symbols of the Lords of Čestice. Chlumany is an ancient site in the wider regional area surrounding Svatá Maří.

Nature

The Skalka natural monument is a 0.57-hectare rock outcrop on the road between Svatá Maří and Šumavské Hoštice. It protects a rock outcrop of vein granite with so-called tourmaline suns.

Včelenský vrch, Boubín, Kamenná hora and Bobík are mountains in the surroundings of Svatá Maří. The Opolenec area protects calcareous or base-rich rocky grasslands, extensively mown lowland meadows extending to the foothills, chasmophytic vegetation on calcareous rocky slopes, caves inaccessible to the public, forest-steppe pine forests and the Bohemian gentian.

Hiking and views

The Mařský vrch lookout tower is 12 metres high. It is adjoined by the Chapel of Saint Wenceslas in the form of a Romanesque rotunda.

A 10.5-kilometre hiking route to the Mařský vrch lookout tower, taking approximately four hours, begins in Svatá Máří u Vimperka, has an elevation gain of 340 metres and is of medium difficulty.

Geographical location

Svatá Maří is connected to the intermunicipal road network by road III/145 21 between Vimperk and Bohumilice; the road runs through the municipality and neighbouring settlements.
