Malenice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

In Malenice, a trail leads far back into the past: the Fara Malenice building stands on the foundations of a medieval fortress.

Culture and History

The Church of St. James the Elder contains a presbytery dating from the early 14th century. Remains of wall paintings from the first half of the 14th century have been preserved behind the altar. The exhibition space of the IKS Centre Malenice is used for permanent exhibitions.

The local cemetery also preserves historic names: among others, the architect Josef Zítek and the director Zdeněk Podskalský are buried there. The Chapel of St. Wenceslas was built in the style of a Romanesque rotunda and serves as a pilgrimage site during the St. Wenceslas pilgrimage held in September.

In the wider regional surroundings of Malenice is the Radomysl Mediumwave Radio Mast, which is considered a ruin.

Nature

The cave in Jiřičků skála is a natural attraction of Malenice, located in a rock formation made of crystalline limestone. It was discovered in 1920. Bones found in the cave in Jiřičků skála indicate that it already served as shelter for wild animals during the Ice Age.

Včelenský vrch is a mountain in the vicinity of Malenice. The wider regional surroundings also include the mountains of Kamenná hora, Boubín and Volovický vrch.

Tradition

The traditional Malenický masopust carnival with a masked procession was announced in Malenice for 14 February 2026; the procession was scheduled to begin at 12:00 noon.
