Chlumany: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Chlumany is situated in a picturesque valley in the foothills of the Šumava. The forests around Chlumany are ideal for hiking. The village is located 2 km from Vlachovo Březí, in the direction of Vimperk.

Nature

During the summer months, a local multipurpose pool in Chlumany can be used for swimming. The multipurpose pool has a well-maintained grass beach.

The Course of the Year

From May to October, the Chlumany Market takes place on the first Saturday of each month. The market focuses exclusively on local products and locally made goods.

Traditions

The traditional Masopust carnival in Chlumany includes a masked procession through the village square and ends with a dance event. Konopická is a regional peculiarity and an old custom of village entertainment reserved for girls and women. The tradition is connected with the harvesting of flax, originally hemp.

Culture

A monument to the soldiers who fell in the First World War stands in the small park in the centre of Chlumany. The birthplace of the traveller František Vyšata–Čech in Chlumany bears a commemorative plaque. František Vyšata–Čech was a traveller and author of travel accounts about South America.
