Borova Lada: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Borová Lada combines moorland, wildlife observation and restored evidence of the village’s history.

Nature and Trails

The trail to Chalupská slať begins in the vicinity of Borová Lada at the Svinná Lada car park, 1 km from Borová Lada in the direction of Kvilda. In the vicinity of Borová Lada, Chalupská slať offers a 1 km-long trail of low difficulty. At the end of the trail, there is a view of the Czech Republic’s largest peat bog lake, covering an area of 1.2 ha, as well as the surrounding moorland.

Nature Observation

Rybí líheň Borová Lada offers a public guided tour every Tuesday at 10 a.m. in July and August, accompanied by a member of the fish farm staff. The breeding ponds can be reached across a flat grassy area without an incline.

Sovinec Borová Lada is an outdoor aviary complex with owls from the Šumava forests, located in an old quarry near Borová Lada. Observation peepholes also allow visitors to observe details of the owls’ lives, such as nesting and feeding.

Culture and History

The Chapel of the Elevation of the Holy Cross, also called St. Anne’s Chapel and dedicated to Saint Anne, was originally built in 1860. Together with the adjacent Stations of the Cross, it was demolished in 1956; the chapel and Stations of the Cross were restored in 2006.

Knížecí Pláně belongs to the municipality of Borová Lada and is an important junction of hiking and cycling trails. The cemetery and the foundations of the church façade were restored there.

Further Trails

The 62 km-long Vltavský Circuit leads via Kvilda, Knížecí Pláně, Strážný, Lenora, Horní Vltavice and Borová Lada back to Kvilda. The LES nature trail is suitable for families with small children.
